This small yet striking teapot is a masterful example of Qing Dynasty export cloisonné, blending Chinese mythology with decorative porcelain artistry. The hand-painted enamel body depicts figures likely from Chinese opera or folklore, one in regal blue seated upon an ornate golden throne, the other wielding flowing red robes and a fan, possibly representing courtly maidens or mythic immortals.
Each panel is set in metal framing, often pewter or silver-plated copper, secured with wrapped wire and etched fittings.
